zencontrol systems are designed with security at their core, including all software used online to edit or control zencontrol application controllers. This ensures that only authorised users can connect to zencontrol products.
zencontrol provides a comprehensive suite of security and authorisation processes. Before connecting to application controllers on site, users must first be authorised through these security protocols. These protocols allow building owners to grant or remove access as needed, ensuring they always know which users have access to the building’s lighting control system. You can find more about adding users here and obtaining your security key here
A user cannot simply download and install the software and gain access to a site. They must first be authorised by the building owner and then verified by the zencontrol cloud systems before access is granted.
Additionally, because authorisation is only granted for a fixed period, users must periodically sync to the cloud to extend their access. This time-limited approach ensures users can be removed from the system when required, rather than retaining unlimited access.
You can view your connectivity status on the My control systems page, indicated by the key symbol.
When the app has the appropriate key for a controller, the key icon is shown in green, indicating offline access is available. If the key is grey, the app is not authorised to connect to the controller.
If the key is orange, it indicates that a local challenge key has been received from the controller and the app now needs to connect to the cloud to obtain the authorisation key.
