Offline controllers

For controllers that are licensed for full offline mode, the mobile apps can operate without continuous internet connectivity, but the user must first obtain authorisation.

For users who have access to the site via the zencontrol cloud and have been granted the required permissions by the site owner under zencontrol’s authorisation model, the following steps can be used to connect to the controller from the app.

To enable secure connection in this mode:

1. The user connects to the local area network and obtains a challenge key from the controllers.
2. The user then moves to an area with cloud access (for example, outside the building) and uses the challenge key to obtain authorisation to securely communicate with the application controllers. This authorisation remains valid for 30 days at which point the user must obtain authorisation again.
3. Once the authorisation key is obtained, the app can connect to and commission the application controllers directly on the local network.
