Wireless Control System cannot detect DALI short circuits. There is no indication when the bus is in fault. To address this, the controller sends commands to restart a countdown timer on each Device. If the Control System fails to restart the timer (if it is unplugged, damaged etc), the Device timer will reach zero and trigger it configured System Failure Mode. The timer can be set to a maximum of 254 seconds, a minimum of 2 seconds or disabled (255), to adjust this timer please read How to edit advanced control system settings.
Whilst the timer is set at the Control System level the System Failure Mode is set at the device level
Requirements:
- The Control System must be on version 2.2.x or later
- The Device must support the feature
What the device does after entering System Failure Mode depends on how it is configured
- Disabled - do nothing
- Send level to bridged devices - system failure data is broadcast to the DALI line
- Short dali line of bridged devices - DALI line is shorted by the device
Shorting the dali line for bridged devices is only available to devices that are not bus powered themselves.
To configure the System Failure Mode go to Control System-> Device Location
