Problem
The customer wants outdoor lights to come on between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM, but only when it is dark outside. A normal schedule cannot do this properly because sunrise changes through the year.
Solution
Use a Profile Schedule with the lux sensor in Twilight mode Nighttime recall max.
At 6:00 AM, activate the profile with Twilight mode enabled
At 8:00 AM, return to normal operation
Set the lux sensor thresholds so:
lights turn on when lux drops below the Twilight on threshold
lights turn off when lux rises above the Twilight off threshold
Example:
On threshold: 300 lux
Off threshold: 800 lux
If the sensor is only being used for this one function on that group, an alternative is to use Scene Validity:
create an enable scene
create a disable scene
make the sensor valid only in the enable scene
schedule the enable scene at 6:00 AM
schedule the disable scene at 8:00 AM
Important
Make sure the lux sensor is not affected by the lights it is controlling, or the lights may cycle on and off.
