When you sync a control system to the zencontrol cloud, the sync runs as a series of steps — for example: syncing floors, the control system, devices, and gateway settings. If any of those steps don't complete cleanly, Commission by zencontrol shows a cloud sync report so you can see exactly what needs attention and what to do about it, instead of a single generic "sync failed" message.
(Available from version 2.8.0 of Commission by zencontrol, on Android and iOS.)
Where to find it
Open the control system's Cloud Sync page. If the sync encountered any problems, the status shows Sync error and the report lists the steps that need attention.
What the report shows
The report lists only the steps that had a problem — steps that succeeded aren't shown. Each entry has an icon showing how serious it is:
- Error (red ✕) — a required step failed, so the sync couldn't finish. For example, Floor Sync, Control System Sync, or Device Sync.
- Warning (amber ⚠) — a non-critical step didn't complete, but the rest of the sync could continue. For example, Gateway Challenge Sign.
Where possible, each entry includes a short message explaining the cause and what to do. For example:
- Gateway Challenge Sign — "No challenges exist for control system, please do a local sync and then try a cloud sync again."
- Floor Sync — "Unable to create Floor – <name>. A Floor with this label already exists in the cloud. Please rename your Floor or delete it."
- If the device lost its connection mid-sync, the failing step shows "Could not connect to the server."
What to do
Work through the listed steps and resolve each issue — for example, reconnect to the internet, run a local sync to obtain challenges, or rename a conflicting floor — then run the cloud sync again. When every step completes, the status changes to Sync complete and the report clears.
