The zencontrol commission application lets you find a control system — and the site it is assigned to — by scanning the QR code printed on the control system. This is useful when you are on site and need to identify which site a control system belongs to, or to request access to that site.
This feature requires an internet connection, as the control system is looked up in the zencontrol cloud. (Available from version 2.8.0 of the commission application.)
To find a control system
- On the My sites screen, tap the menu (☰) icon
- Select Find control system.
- If prompted, allow the camera permission so the app can scan (see Camera permission below).
- Point the camera at the QR code on the control system. Once it is recognised, the app displays Processing QR Code while it looks up the control system.
- The My control systems screen opens, filtered to the control system you scanned.
- Tap the back arrow to go to the Site dashboard screen of the site that control system is assigned to.
Camera permission
The first time you scan, the app asks for permission to use the device camera. If permission has not been granted, a Permission Required dialog appears: "Camera permission is required to perform a QR code scan."
- Settings — opens your device settings so you can enable the camera permission for the app.
- Cancel — closes the dialog without scanning.
If you don't have access to the site
If the control system is on a site you don't have access to, the app opens the Request Access To Site dialog so you can ask the site owners for access:
- Choose a Reason: Site Commissioning, Tenancy Commissioning, Facility Management, or Other.
- Tap Request.
An email is sent on your behalf to every site owner, requesting access for the reason you selected. By sending the request you agree to disclose your name, company and email address to the site owners. You'll see Request Sent once it has been submitted.
