When transitioning a device from one field controller (Wireless thread controller) to another field controller, users may encounter issues during the recommissioning process. A common error occurs when attempting to add the device to the wireless controller using the commissioning app and receiving the error that the device is already commissioned on another controller.
To avoid these issues, it's crucial to follow the correct order of operations when removing a device:
- Factory reset the device first using the Connect APP.
- Remove the device from the grid view in the cloud interface.
- Commission the device to the new wireless controller.
This sequence prevents a race condition where the control system detects and processes the device before it's fully removed from the system.
For the most reliable method of device removal which avoids the race conditions, use the Android commissioning app. This android commissioning app guides you through the entire removal process, minimizing the chance of errors.
If you've already encountered this issue:
- Go to the original Field Controller (FC).
- Remove the device location from the original device.
- If no device location exists, the device may be partially adopted. In this case, check the thread page in the cloud interface to locate the device.
