I am the owner or property manager of a site. Should I have access?

Yes. If you are the building owner, property manager, facilities manager, or the person responsible for the operation of a site, it is good practice to have appropriate access to the site in the zencontrol web portal.

Having access allows you to manage who can view, support, configure, or maintain your site. It also makes it easier to add or remove integrators, electricians, contractors, or service providers as your requirements change.

Why should I have access?

Site access is an important part of managing your building’s control system. If the site is only controlled by an external integrator or contractor, you may need to rely on that party each time access is required, changed, or removed.

Having access helps you:

• Control which people or companies can access your site
• Add new integrators or contractors when required
• Remove access for parties that are no longer involved
• Avoid delays when changing service providers
• Maintain continuity if your original installer, integrator, or contractor is no longer available
• Better manage security, support, maintenance, and ownership responsibilities

Should my integrator also have access?

In most cases, yes. Integrators, installers, electricians, and service providers often need access to commission, maintain, troubleshoot, or support your site.

However, long-term control of site access should normally sit with the site owner or an authorised representative of the site owner. This ensures the site owner can manage access based on the current needs of the building.

What if an integrator wants to remain in control of the site?

In some situations, an integrator or contractor may want to retain control of a site or restrict access to other parties. There may be valid reasons for this, including:

• Security or data loss prevention requirements
• Warranty obligations
• Active maintenance or support agreements
• Unpaid invoices or commercial disputes
• Contractual obligations with the client
• Responsibility for system performance or compliance

If this occurs, the site owner or property manager should first discuss the matter directly with the current site owner or integrator.

Can I appoint a different integrator?

Yes. As the site owner or authorised property manager, you may choose which integrators, contractors, or service providers are allowed to access your site.

Taking control of your site access makes this process much easier. It allows you to add a new integrator when needed and remove access for an integrator that is no longer authorised to work on the site.

Who is responsible for site access?

Individual site access and control is the responsibility of the site owner.

zencontrol does not manage individual site access on behalf of the site owner, except where a formal access request or ownership dispute process is required. The site owner is responsible for deciding who should have access, what level of access they should have, and when that access should be removed.

What should I do now?

If you are the owner, property manager, facilities manager, or authorised representative of a site, you should ensure that you have suitable access to the site in the zencontrol web portal.

If the site is currently controlled by another party, contact the current zencontrol site owner and ask them to add you to the site. If the current owner cannot be reached, or if access is refused, you may need to follow the process for claiming access to an existing site.
