The Device Types->ECG contains a new field for V2 controllers: Driver Type
There are two functions that driver type allows for:
- Classification of devices for use of filtering in the Grid View
- Protection of a lighting state.
Protection of a lighting state.
To enable protection of the lighting state due to the driver type, you must set the Correction behaviour in the ECG view to Default to instruct the controller to use the driver type as the basis of correction.
For more information on the correction behaviour, see
As of v2.000.024, the following feature is active:
If a 24 hour light or Maintained emergency is found to be off at any stage (it turned off on its own accord / you turned it off), the controller will force the light back on shortly thereafter.
Further functionality
Starting with version 2.002.026, addresses configured with a 24-hour light or maintained emergency driver type are automatically protected by a permanent command filter that blocks lighting commands to those addresses.
How the controller handles this:
Direct commands: If you send a lighting command directly to a protected address to turn it off, the controller will block the command and not send it.
Group or broadcast commands: If you send a command to a group containing protected devices (or use broadcast), the controller will split that command into individual lighting commands for each device, excluding the protected addresses from receiving the command.
Important considerations:
Because of this filtering, your lights will not respond simultaneously—this is an unavoidable trade-off to maintain the protection. We strongly recommend:
- Avoid grouping protected emergency lights with standard lights you intend to control
- Where possible, structure your commands to exclude any actions that would turn off protected lights
Note: Command splitting only occurs when the target includes a protected device that would otherwise receive a blocked command.
