Introduction
Wireless zencontrol smart fittings can be Quick commissioned with Connect by zencontrol for use with for use with zencontrol control systems. This process inverts the typical commissioning process and manually creates and adds devices to a network then allows a cloud connected control system to take over:
- Generating a new thread network.
- Manually adding wireless fittings to the network
- Adding a zencontrol wireless application controller to the network to take over.
To begin, open Connect by zencontrol and select Quick commission mode.
Choosing Thread network
Next, Choose your thread network, if you are starting from scratch you should press the '+' button in the bottom right and create a new one.
Creating a thread network
Set a network name which can be a maximum of 16 characters, choose a channel , and set a random credential to create your network.
For best performance, when creating multiple networks for the same deployment (multiple control systems in a building) ensure you select a different channel for each network.
Importing a network
If you have multiple commissioning agents on a site you can share the master key for a network between devices to allow for concurrent adding of devices.
To get the key for a network, long press on an item in the thread network list, this will copy the network in plain text which you can simply send to the other device via message.
Adding devices to a network
Select the device type of the fitting you are adding then begin scanning and selecting devices. The devices will be shown in order of signal strength, with the strongest signal shown at the top of the screen.
Selecting a device will prompt the device to identify, allowing the user to confirm they have connected to the correct fitting, once confirmed you will be prompted to set the address. By default the phone will send the address to both the input device (control device, eg sensor or switch) and output device (control gear, eg light or relay) for the connected fitting. You can choose to send only the control gear address if you are planning to leave fittings with their internal application controller running.
Best practice and caveats.
- Ensure at least one fitting on the network has had "Send all details to create network(Only send to one device)" set when saving settings - we recommend setting this to the first device for each network, this will act as a seed for any future devices to join the network.
- Start your DALI address for each network from 10 or higher to allow for conflicting addresses to be resolved in sequential order.
- If a fitting has been added to a cloud connected control system before it will always return to the address saved in the cloud.
- Once a controller is connected to the thread network and has access to the cloud it will mark the network key as requiring rotation, once rotation occurs the network you created will no longer be valid.
- Ensure only one zencontrol control system is added to each network, failing to do this will cause the control systems to each try to take ownership of the devices and will be difficult to diagnose.
