Claiming access to an existing site
If your sites control systems have already been claimed, you will need to contact the zencontrol site owner for access to the site. Typically, this can be the original integrator, installer, site manager, physical site owner or site electrician. In most scenarios, zencontrol is not a site owner and cannot grant access.
What to do when the owner cannot be reached:
If you have been unable to acquire access to this site, you may choose one of two options:
Option 1: Request zencontrol to contact the zencontrol site owner on your behalf (we will provide your details to the owner). The owner will have 5 days to approve/deny the request. If this is not successful, you will need to move to option 2.
Option 2: Dispute ownership.
If the current owner has rejected your access request, you can dispute ownership. To do this, you will need to create a support ticket on the zencontrol FAQ website, detailing the site location, site name and providing just cause for the request. The site name and location must match with our records. Just cause is usually but not limited to: a letter or email from the new/existing physical owners of the site (this may not be the same entity as the zencontrol site owner). Typically, zencontrol considers the physical owner of the site to be the facilities manager or building owner.
Once disputed, zencontrol will then contact the site owner on your behalf with a request to change ownership. The original owner can respond in the following ways:
- Allow access (preferably)
- Remove the control system(s) from their site
- Not reply in 14 days, where zencontrol will automatically grant access
- Dispute the change, due to contractual obligations from the client such as outstanding bills or claims
Once disputed, zencontrol will then contact the site owner on your behalf with a request to change ownership. The original owner can respond in the following ways:
- Allow access (preferably)
- Remove the control system(s) from their site
- Not reply in 14 days, where zencontrol will automatically grant access
- Dispute the change, due to contractual obligations from the client such as outstanding bills or claims
In a dispute the original owner shall provide a written detailed response which shall clearly state the reasons. This response will be provided directly to the claimant.
Where zencontrol decides the reason for the dispute is valid, zencontrol cannot grant access to the site until the dispute is finalized.
