In Control4, rooms are mapped directly to zencontrol DALI groups.
When using Sync with zencontrol or Commission with zencontrol, these groups are used to create the corresponding rooms in which the lighting devices will appear.
Only groups that have been created in the zencontrol system will be synchronised into Control4, and the group names will also be carried across automatically.
Within each Control4 room, zencontrol creates a master group controller that contains the primary controls required for that room. This allows installers to assign room-level functions to Control4 buttons as needed. Where applicable, these controls will also include scene controls and colour controls if scenes or colour-capable devices have been configured in zencontrol for that group.
In addition to the master group controller, zencontrol will import the devices associated with that room, including switches, sensors, relays, blind controls, fan controllers, and other lighting devices.
Control system settings can be used to disable the scanning of these devices. More importantly, even when devices are scanned in, their visibility in the Control4 Navigator can be configured by default.
A recommended approach is to automatically hide individual switches and devices while presenting only the group controller to the user. Alternatively, both the group controller and switches or sensors can be hidden in the Navigator, leaving only the lighting devices visible for user control.
Re-syncing or re-commissioning will import any changes and newly discovered devices, but it will not alter the current state of devices that have already been added.
