zencontrol can synchronise blind, fan and relay controls into the relevant Control4 room. By default, these are imported as ECG devices. However, there are two ways to convert them into standard Control4 device types.
The first option is to use the controller settings, which can automatically convert blinds, relays and fans into standard Control4 devices. While this is suitable in many cases, some integrators may prefer to assign custom relay or shade device types so the correct Control4 user interface is presented.
To convert relays, fans or blinds into specific Control4 device types manually, select the relevant relay from the device list, then open Actions and choose the option to create a relay, blind or fan. Select the required device type and apply the change. Control4 will then create a new device using the selected driver type.
When this is done, the original ECG device will no longer be visible in Navigator, and the newly created driver will become the visible control interface. The original base ECG driver must not be deleted, as it remains necessary for control updates and system communication.
It is recommended that the new device be positioned under the master ECG in the project view for easier organisation. The original and new devices will share the same name and ID, although the new device will display its type in brackets, making it easier to identify.
If an incorrect device type is created, simply delete the new relay, blind or fan device, then return to the master ECG and create it again using the correct type.
The device can also be renamed in Control4 so that it appears in Navigator with a more user-friendly name.
