System address
System addresses are a special type of targets that are not attributed to dali address types. They are most useful when multiple application controllers are tasked with receiving a single trigger that is not attributable to an address based target.
Example is to send out a network trigger to multiple controllers for them to engage their emergency profile.
System variables
System variables can be targeted by local or remote instances of any current instance type. Functionality/scope varies with the source instance type. System variables can be also used for temporary storage in sequences. Actions such as testing values, incrementing, decrementing are available for use of system variables in the sequence.
It should be noted that a system variable begins with an "unset" value of 65535. Therefore, any sequence that uses system variables for incrementing/decrementing counts should use an action to set the initial value of the system variable.
Live values can be seen in grid view for a system variable if you have purchased the relevant metric on your control systems.
